Owner John Montgomery has over 40 years in the restaurant business, 25 years as Executive Chef. As a little boy he watched his Grandmother cook for a family that she was the private chef for. He was very interested in everything she did in the kitchen. In high school he worked at local restaurants and learned more about the operation of the business. He then decided to go to Johnson and Wales Culinary School from where he graduated in 1980. He has traveled extensively through France, Italy, Spain, and Japan and trained in many places.
John grew up in West Islip where he met his wife of 41 years, Karen. They have 5 children including a set of triplets, Scott, Erin and Travis, that were born 16 months after their first daughter Melissa. Maggie was born 3 1/2 years later. They now have 4 grand children, McKinley 7, Teagan 6, Kiera 5, and TJ 4.
They opened Sea Levels Restaurant in Brightwaters, NY in 2006. They pride themselves for being a great local community restaurant that is well respected.
